Fans of the much-awaited film "X-Men: Apocalypse" are now wondering what "Apocalypse" means in the title. Hence, the movie director Bryan Singer talked about the mystery name and revealed some details about the titular villain.
The 50-year-old producer described that the said character could be the franchise's biggest and weirdest villain up to date. He is a "body-hopping, power-amplifying, centuries-old Apocalypse" played by Oscar Isaac.
"Because it's just so different. We've always treated this theme of mutants vs. humans, and Apocalypse has two aspects that make him such a different character than I've traditionally explored in the universe," the writer said. "One is that he makes no distinctions between humans and mutants. And secondly, it deals with ancient mutants, or the origins of the mutant state, or the origin of gods and religion. The X-Men universe has never touched upon any of those things."
He also described Apocalypse as the God of the Old Testament and everything that comes to that character, according to Slash Film. "If there isn't order and worship then I'll open up the Earth and swallow you whole. That was the God of the Old Testament," he added.
The actor further explained that he has a lot of different powers that he obtained over the years by getting the abilities from moving from one body to another. In fact, Apocalypse greatest strength is the "power of persuasion.
Meanwhile, Movie News Guide added that he, too, can even increase the force of other mutants. "But his ability to physically damage, destroy, or build is in the non-biological world. That's in the physical world, he can change the inorganic molecules of things," Singer disclosed.
Apocalypse also has the ability to get everything he asked and make people give him everything he needs. "X-Men: Apocalypse" is set to be released on May 27.
