Asus Installs ADAM Device-Management Software On ZenPad M Android Tablets

The device-management software called Asus Device Admin for Mobile (A.D.A.M.) is the company's answer to Samsung's Knox. The application will come pre-loaded on the new Asus 7-inch and 10-inch M series tablets. This will help companies to deploy Android in the workplace.

The major high-tech companies will present their news and key themes to the MWC 16 show ready to start in Barcelona. When it comes to a mobility solution in the workplace, Android tablets often seem like an afterthought. While Microsoft has its Surface line of tablets and Apple offers the iPad Pro, now Asus hopes to become a major player on the market for business. According to ZDNet, the new ZenPad M tablets will feature A.D.A.M., Asus' own device-management software.

Android devices can be more difficult to maintain secure in a business environment due to the open-source nature of their operating system. This is a big concern for enterprises worried about deploying Android tablets in the workplace. Samsung's Knox is the best-known solution to this problem. The application is an enterprise security software deployed on the Samsung's Galaxy S Android phones. However, now A.D.A.M. from Asus has become a serious competitor to Knox.

Besides the fact that A.D.A.M. will come pre-loaded on the new ZenPad M tablets we know little about their specs. They will come in 7-inch and 10-inch versions, according to Asus ZenTalk Forum. It is expected that Asus will offer more details about the ZenPad M at this week's Mobile World Congress.

We know more detailed about the A.D.A.M. device-management software, thanks to a video Asus has created. Among the features bundled in the system are included data wipes of tablets in case of theft, mass deployments of software updates and kiosk mode to limit employees to using a single app. Asus also allows third parties to integrate their enterprise software with A.D.A.M. via a set of APIs.
