Detroit rapper Eminem appeared in the broadcast booth at a game in Michigan where he had an unexpected posse, according to Freep.
He appeared with ABC / ESPN football talking heads Brent Musburger and Kirk Herbstreit during the halftime of the big buzz football game between Michigan and Notre Dame held at the Michigan Stadium in Ann Harbor.
His appearance that lasted just a few minutes amounted to a slightly awkward promotional vehicle for his new single, Berzerk, and upcoming album, MMLP2 which will hit the record bars and iTunes on November 5. Berzerk was announced this week as the season theme song for the Saturday Night Football college broadcasts.
Eminem shared banter with the two broadcasters, apologizing that "live TV freaks me out a bit", he said. He wore a white T-shirt and black jacket and was asked by Herbstreit what he was most looking forward to about the upcoming album. "Nothing" was his playful response followed by "I'll probably be most excited to just be done with it."
"It's kind of a revisit to the first 'Marshall Mathers LP', and that's pretty much all I probably can say about it," he said referring to his landmark 2000 disc, which many consider the highest point of his career. Musburger then asked him whether his hometown Lions will cover the point spread in their season opener on Sunday against the Minnesota Vikings.
"I don't ever make a prediction on the Lions because I don't want to jinx it. But I'm such a die-hard Lions fan to the core. So, yeah, they'll win." The unexpected segment ended with Eminem teasingly suggesting to Musburger that it would be a "dream come true" to hear him handle a Lions Super Bowl appearance paired with famed Monday Night Football tandem, John Madden and Al Michaels.
