It is said that breakfast is the most important meal of the day. However, not everyone is fond of waking up early to eat -- especially on weekends when children and adults alike would like a few extra hours of sleep. Still, breakfast is one of the yummiest meals, and nothing compares to the smell of fresh coffee and good food when you wake up.
For one, pancakes are easy to prepare and are considered as the ultimate childhood food --- after all, when else can you add sweets and chocolate to a meal? On weekends, get more creative with the little ones by making more creative-looking pancakes.
Okay, so maybe you can't be the dad who makes artistic pancakes on the skillet, but shake up your breakfast anyway. The easiest way to do that is by using a ketchup bottle to make shapes. You can start with simple ones like hearts and stars, then add some twist to the same old breakfast food.
Here are other ways to put a twist on your pancakes:
Rainbow pancakes
Add a bit of food coloring into the mix to make colorful pancakes! There are two ways to do this: make six different stacks of different colors, or use the ketchup bottles to add all six colors in each pancake. You're going to need a bit of patience, but if it turns out well, your kids will surely love their colorful breakfast treat.
Bacon Pancake Dippers
Breakfast is always better with bacon. For you and your husband, make bacon pancake dippers by putting pancake batter in the skillet, layered with bacon, and topped with another layer of pancake batter. Don't make it too thick, though! Also, to avoid a greasy pancake, make sure that the bacon is cooked until crispy, and that any excess oils have been drained away.
Pancake Pizzas
Add a twist to your breakfast by pulling out the tomato puree, cheese and pepperoni. Put them on top of the pancake. Voila, a simple pancake recipe no child or adult could ignore!
Pancakes are love yet will always be the best breakfast treat ever, especially when shared with loved ones.
