Kate Middleton has been plagued with several rumors ever since she was linked to Prince William. From their engagement, marriage and pregnancy, no milestone of the Duchess of Cambridge has made off the scrutinizing eyes of the public. Now, it seems like her parenting skills are in hot waters.
While most of us only know that Kate is an epitome of beauty with a substance, she has also been a good ambassadress of her advocacies. One of the many reasons why several people loves the Duchess of Cambridge because of how she stands and speak out about mental health problems in children.
As its way to end the stigma around child mental health, The Huffington Post tapped the helping hands of Kate to guest-edit the paper. As a matter of fact, she received a lot of jeers for choosing to comment on an unfashionable subject this week.
Daily Mail shared that Kate reveals she "would not" hesitate to send her kids, Prince George and Princess Charlotte, to therapy if she thought they should need it. This statement broke the hearts of many as they think that letting this happen would getting a psychotherapy is not a good habit at all.
One of the people who slammed Kate's comment is Dr. Max Pemberton. "That's not to say I'm not a great fan of psychotherapy when it's rigorous. I absolutely think that the unexamined life is not worth living. I've had psychotherapy and I've trained in it," he said.
"But I also think there can be too much navel-gazing. And that's not a good habit to get into - least of all right from childhood," he added. "How old do you have to be before you stop blaming your parents for all the mistakes you've made in your life?"
Pemberton thinks that, sometimes, it is better for the kids to let the wounds heal than persistently reopening and inspecting it. He even said that psychotherapy could not even make kids cleverer and emotionally wiser.
"Yes, good for Kate that she's speaking up about mental health. She genuinely seems a warm, caring mother," Pemberton added. "But turning little George and Charlotte into therapy junkies won't do them any favours."
Meanwhile, it comes to no surprise if Kate would do it to her own children as she attempts to walk her talk. Just like other parents out there, she has her own way to raise Prince George and Princess Charlotte to becoming a better person and a better member of the society.
