MWC 2016 News & Update: Sony Announces The Next-Generation Xperia X Series

Sony announces its new generation of Xperia X phones. The new X-series line will include three new mobile phones from Sony.

The new line of Xperia X has been presented by Sony at Mobile World Congress. The high-tech company also posted three videos on its YouTube channel presenting its three new mobile phones.

According to a Sony Mobile blog the entry-level device is the XA. The new phone will come with a MediaTek MT6755 processor rather than a Snapdragon chip. Sony describes the XA phone as a "super mid-range." XA will feature 16GB storage, 2GB RAM, 720p display and 13MP/8MP cameras.

The standard X will come with much better specs. The mobile device will feature a Snapdragon 650 processor, 32GB of storage and 3GB of RAM. The display is a 5-inch screen with 1080p resolution. The camera combo stands out. The X gets a 13MP front camera and the same 23MP rear camera as in the Z5. According to Sony, the front camera offers a new predictive auto-focus that can track a moving object in the frame and 6400ISO for ultra-capable low-light performance.

The Xperia X Performance is the top of the X-series range. The new mobile phone will come with a Snapdragon 650 for Qualcomm's top-end Snapdragon 820 chip. According to the website 9to5google.com, Sony claims that all three models will have a battery life of two days.

Sony announces additionally its Xperia Ear accessory. The device is a standalone earpiece connecting to your phone via Bluetooth. It allows using voice to check the calendar, get directions, send text messages and more.

Customers will still have to wait a while until the new line of Xperia X will be available on the market. Sony declared that they will be launched sometime in the summer. The prices are still unknown for the moment. However, from the specs it is expected that they will be at the upper end.
