‘It’ Release Date, News & Update: Stephen King’s Movie Might Start Filming This Year

After four years of planning, Warner Brothers is finally pushing through their movie adaptation of Stephen King's "It." The epic horror novel's producer Roy Lee is already eyeing to start the film production later this year and expecting the movie to be Rated R.

The 46-year-old director got an exclusive interview with Collider at the DICE 2016 and talked about his plans for the much-awaited literature piece. In fact, he revealed that Cary Fukunaga and Chase Palmer's original script is already rewritten.

"It will hopefully be shooting later this year," he told the publication. "We just got the California tax credit... Gary Doberman wrote the most recent draft working with Andy Muscetti, so it's being envisioned as two movies."

To recall, it has been known that the 1986 novel has two distinct time periods. "The Lego Movie" producer added that once everything is settled and done, they could possibly cut the two movies together to make the movie easier to understand.

"It is very close to the source material in one way but very different if you look at it as a literary piece of work...," Lee continued. "We're taking it and making the movie from the point of view of the kids, and then making another movie from the point of view of the adults, that could potentially then be cut together like the novel. But it's gonna be a really fun way of making this movie."

Meanwhile, he also revealed that "It" will be rated R. Additionally, Movie Web reported that the film was once decided to be shot in New York City, but moved in California.

In fact, one of the reasons why Fukunaga decided to leave the project was he wanted the movie to be filmed in New York. However, the studio contradicted his plans for that may cost them a lot of money. Lastly, Roy also teased the waiting fans that "It's" final draft of the script will soon be finished.
