Rihanna just released the music video for "Work," a Drake-featured track off the 28-year-old's latest album "Anti." The music video actually consists of two different music videos: one directed by Director X, the other by Tim Erem. Maybe Rihanna felt the need to compensate for canceling her 2016 Grammys appearance?
Whatever the reason may be, there's no doubting that "the clip's one-two visual punch could give the song the boost it needs to climb to the top of the pop charts around the world," reports The Verge.
As it turns out, Rihanna and Drake filmed the "Work" music video across North America - as the two were spotted shooting in Los Angeles and Toronto - and even teased a 30-second sneak peek last week before premiering on Monday. The video's first half sees Rihanna at a Toronto Caribbean restaurant called "The Real Jerk." As the screen fills up with a lot of weed, dancing, and twerking, the video progresses to Drake and Rihanna grinding and intertwining with each other at the club.
Once the Director X-filmed video comes to a close, viewers are then surprised with a pink loading bar, similar to those typically seen on the Internet. The second half gives a short intro before Rihanna and Drake make another performance.
In a neon-lit room, much to the same aesthetic as Drake's "Hotline Bling" music video, Rihanna and Drake get extra cozy as they hang around the room alone.
"Things get more intimate this time around," People describes the Tim Erem-directed portion. "With Drake getting off the couch to dance on Rihanna, who dons a revealing top."
