A Burger King fan from North London has officially changed his name to 'Bacon Double Cheeseburger' through the UK Deed Poll Service. He shared that he has no regrets with his new name that reflect his love of the food.
A 33-year old gas consultant from Muswell Hill, formerly known as Simon Smith, has dropped his birth name and adapted the name of his usual Burger King order, Huffington Post reported. He is among the 85,000 Brits who legally changed their names by deed poll in 2015.
"I've got no regrets at all," Cheeseburger told the Standard. He said that he decided to change his name to reflect his love for his Burger King favorite. He narrated that the decision came after a night in the pub with friends where they had a discussion about names.
"It was the culmination of probably too many drinks in the pub where there was a conversation about names," Cheeseburger explained. "Bacon Double Cheeseburger was pretty much the first thing that came up. Everyone loves bacon don't they?"
Cheeseburger said that he is aware that it is a ridiculous thing to do but he was convinced by his friends to push through with the stunt. "My friends were quite supportive of anything that makes me look silly, as good friends are."
Cheeseburger added his mother was furious about his move while his father found it hilarious. "He's more than happy to use my new name."
While he has no regrets with his new legal name, he admitted that he is considering of another name change in the future because his fiancée is reluctant about marrying a Cheeseburger. "No girl ever dreams of spending her big day marrying a man called Bacon."
Cheeseburger's name is only one of the strange things that people have chosen to replace their names to in the past year. "Some people simply don't like their original name - we've changed Cock to Cox and Smellie to Smiley," Louise Bowers, of the UK Deed Poll Service, told the Sunday People.
"One man changed his name to Happy Birthday," Bowers added. "It gave us a chuckle but if that is what they want to do, it's their choice."
