"Captain America: Civil War" casting reveals that "Sherlock" star Martin Freeman will join what is reportedly the most intense instalment of the franchise. The "Sherlock" actor will joined by Mark Ruffalo's The Hulk, which is currently the most talked about addition to the "Thor: Ragnarok" film. This will be alongside the origins subplot for Brock Rumlow's Crossbones.
According to Empire, Martin Freeman will be seen in "Captain America: Civil War" as Everett Ross. Freeman's character is a consultant for NSA and S.H.I.E.L.D. and is the leading US expert on all things Wakanda. Ross is a member of the Joint Counter Terrorist Center (JCTC), which will keep tabs on Captain America (Chris Evans, "Gifted) and on Winter Soldier Bucky Barnes (Sebastian Stan, "I'm Dying Up Here") in "Captain America: Civil War"
The Freeman's Ross will be busy right alongside Agent 13 Sharon Carter (Emily VanCamp, "Borders"). Empire points out that Freeman may be in the Marvel Universe for more than "Captain America: Civil War." Since Ross is a package deal of sorts with Black Panther (Chadwick Boseman, "Gods Of Egypt"), Freeman as Everett Ross may also be seen in the standalone "Black Panther" film.
The "Sherlock" star may also find himself in the company of The Hulk in "Captain America: Civil War." According to Digital Spy, while the official announcement being passed around is that Mark Ruffalo's The Hulk, who is currently making waves as one of the biggest attractions for upcoming "Thor: Ragnarok," will not be among the Avengers that will make a stand in "Captain America: Civil War."
However, Anthony Mackie ("Triple 9") who plays Sam Wilson/Falcon spoke about "Captain America: Civil War" on BBC Radio 1, the actor may have revealed otherwise. "Winter Soldier and Iron Man 1 are probably Marvel's two best movies," Mackie said. "I feel like [Civil War] beats both of those movies. It's really, really good. Because it's more of an acting movie than an action movie, I feel like the story is very concise and interesting, and you get to see Robert Downey Jr and Chris Evans and Scarlett Johannson and Mark Ruffalo and everybody just do really, really good acting."
A first look of Frank Grillo ("Jekyll Island") as Brock Rumlow/Crossbones can be seen on Marvel's web site. Apparently, directors and brothers Anthony and Joe Russo are treating "Captain America: Civil War" as an origins material for Grillo's Rumlow.
"Captain America: Civil War" will be released in theaters on April 29 in the UK and on May 6 in the US. Share your thoughts with us in the comment box below.
