In the light of the rising demand for online content, Facebook is opening a program that will let its publishers earn attractive revenues while monetizing their content. The program will be called Instant Articles and it shall commence on April 12th.
Instant Articles was launched by Facebook in May 2015, only with a handful of publishers to test the program, according to Forbes. There will be plans to make the tools user-friendly and available to globally wider audiences, minimizing the time for articles to load on mobile phones. It will also provide the publisher the full control over its data and ads displayed on their content.
Trefis Team commended Facebook's expansion but noted the possible in discrepancy in the quality of contents that it will receive:
"We believe this move will expand Facebook's content, leading to better user engagement. And with tools to create mobile friendly content and a favorable revenue sharing agreement, it should attract additional publishers, thus driving revenues for Facebook. However, Facebook's ability to manage the quality of the content it receives will be an important factor in the success of this program."
Facebook also offers a very attractive revenue deal for publishers on its Instant Articles program. "For ads sold on the article's original posting on the publisher's website, the publisher can keep 100% of revenue and for ads sold by Facebook the publisher gets 70% of the revenue," Trefis Team explains.
This is to attract a huge number of publishers to the program who are pretty much interested in earning money with their own original contents. As they provide a platform with wider reach and mobile compatibility to its 800 million mobile-only monthly active users.
The downside of the program might be running the risk of having poorly written copy and plagiarized or repetitive content in which Facebook has no control over. Having this possibility, the popularity of Instant Access might be jeopardized and be put into bad light.
