After Chrissy Teigen and husband John Legend raised their plan to hire a night nurse for the baby girl they are expecting, the public reacted negatively to their statements. However, it also raised the issue of parents willing to waive their parenting responsibilities to another person.
A lot of parents hire the services of professionals to assist them in teaching some basic stuff to their kids Fox 8 Cleveland reported. It noted that some of the services rendered include training on manners and teaching kids how to tie their shoes or even ride a bike.
"Lots of parents are choosing the iconic moments they enjoy with their kids, then outsourcing other responsibilities to someone else," Dr. Amber Epp was quoted by Fox 8 as saying.
In some examples provided by Parents, it claimed that a training on manners would cost around $150 to $375 for a 90-minute session. On the other hand, biking sessions could be pegged around $45 to $65 for every class.
In a separate article on Parents, Alesandra Dubin claimed that she had a realization that the payment for night or baby nurses is worth every penny. "The cost of the five-week commitment we made to her is equivalent to the cost of some of the most extraordinary, far-flung vacations we've ever taken. But I think we made the right choice," she added.
Earlier, Teigen and Legend drew flak on social media after they revealed their plan tap the services of a night nurse to care for their baby. But the model explained to their critics the importance of seeking the help of a professional.
Using her official Twitter account, the model said that hiring a night nurse does not replace the role of parents for their kids. "You're up with them. They're helpers and teachers," Teigen added in her replies to some tweets.
