A visit to a zoo turned into a nightmare for a Chinese mother and her eight-month-old son when a monkey ripped off the infant's testicles and ate it.
The mother was reportedly changing the nappy of the baby at Qianling Wildlife Park in Guìyáng, the capital of Guizhou province in Southwest China, when the monkey attacked the toddler.
According to the Chinese media, the monkey tore one of the baby's testicles, ran away and then threw it. An old man picked it up but the monkey snatched the testicle from him and ate it. The baby was rushed to a nearby hospital, reported 'Shanghaiist.'
The doctors treating the baby said that he was out of danger but his reproductive functions may be majorly damaged.
Despite warnings issued by the officials, the tourists feed the monkeys and invite attacks, reported Chinese media. These animals are fed thrice a day by their keepers, revealed the zoo officials.
In recent years, the population of monkeys has shot up from 70 to 500 at the zoo, which is known to let monkeys roam free. Officials at the zoo have warned tourists to stay away from the monkeys following several attacks and woundings.
CCTV, a Chinese news channel, showed a clipping in which a young girl was attacked by a monkey and bit her fingers.
