"Metal Gear Solid V: the Phantom Pain" won the Best Adventure Game at the 19th Annual DICE Awards, but the neither the game creator Hideo Kojima nor Konami wanted to accept the recognition. To save everyone from humiliation, the presenter received the honor on the company's behalf as he said no one was available to claim it.
"Konami was unable to send someone to the awards and Kojima-San preferred not to accept it," Terrence Myers, executive producer, DICE Awards told Polygon. "The Academy thought the solution of having the presenters accept on behalf of the title was best for all parties."
Allegedly, the 52-year-old video game designer didn't want to acknowledge the award because of the troubles he had faced during "Metal Gear Solid V's" production. Also, it has been said that it might be for the reason that he left the arcade game company and some issues.
Some were quite upset to see that the legacy of "Metal Gear Solid" series was quite gone to waste as they didn't accept its recognition. They even said that it's now being affected by the "rulings of Konami" and it's a shame that they didn't accept the award for the great work.
However, "Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain" was chosen as an overall Game of the Year 2016 by Critics' Choice Sale. The game's price dropped down to $35.99 from $59.99 and continuously making waves and a sought after.
Meanwhile, the next patch for "Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain's" is coming in March and will carry a number of to the multiplayer mode Metal Gear Online. It also has a new character named Quiet, who's a professional sniper, with additional new three epic maps; Coral Complex, Rust Palace and Azure Mountain.
Additionally, they are also about to change respawns as requested by "Metal Gear Solid V: the Phantom Pain's" players. "The biggest change we're making is how player suicide or being fultoned affects a respawn. Currently, a player under these conditions can choose their own respawn point among all available, however after the update we're limiting a player respawn to HQ alone," the studio said.
