American actress Jennifer Garner has opened up about the faith she shared with her children. She revealed that her new movie "Miracles from Heaven" has inspired her to take her kids to church every Sunday.
"I grew up going to church every Sunday of my life, and when I did move to LA, it wasn't something that was just part of the culture there in the same way, at least in my life," the 43-year-old actress said in an appearance on 'Good Morning Texas' as reported by Huffington Post. "But it didn't mean that I lost who I was," she added.
Garner shared that her new movie, a faith-based drama based on a true story, has motivated her to encourage her three kids Violet, Seraphina and Samuel about going to church regularly. In the movie, she plays the role of Christy Beam, a mother of a young girl from Texas who is diagnosed with a rare, incurable disease. The film revolves around Christy's memoir about the experience of an extraordinary medical miracle.
"There was something about doing this film and talking to my kids about it and realizing that they were looking for the structure of church every Sunday," the actress said. "So it was a great gift of this film that it took us back to finding our local Methodist church and going every Sunday. It's really sweet."
In an interview with Entertainment Tonight, Garner also shared that the offer to star in the movie came after her 10-year marriage with Ben Affleck collapsed. "I feel like Miracles From Heaven kind of chose me," she said.
"It felt like something that had just been put out there for me," Garner pointed out. "The blessing for me for this film is to be reminded of all that really matters, which is the health of your kids and your loved ones and yourself, so you can be with all these people and to be reminded to look for miracles wherever you can find them."
