'Taboo' TV Series Starring Tom Hardy Unveils its First Teaser (WATCH)

Premium cable channel FX has released the first teaser to "Taboo." The TV series will star Tom Hardy, who will also serve as one of the show's executive producer.

Deadline reports that "Taboo" is a drama series set in the 1814 where Hardy plays James Keziah Delaney, an heir to a shipping empire who comes back to London after everyone believed he died. Delaney is set to take the post of his father in the family business following the patriarch's death. But he soon finds out that his father dealt with untrusty associates with their own devious agenda.

Hardy developed the story along with his dad, Chips, and they also enlisted the help of writer Steven Knight for the show's script. Slashfilm reports that Kristoffer Nyholm is tasked to direct the TV show. Nyholm previously helmed "The Killing," which was a hit in the Scandinavian region. AMC adapted the show for American viewers in 2011.

Also joining Hardy in "Taboo" are Jonathan Pryce, Michael Kelly, Oona Chaplin and David Hyman. While airing dates are still unconfirmed, the series is set for an eight-episode run in 2017, Entertainment Weekly reports. "Taboo" will also air on BBC One in the United Kingdom when it is released.

"The talent on- and off-screen is incredible and I am so excited to see Steve's captivating scripts come to life," said BBC's Polly Hill when the show was first announced, per UPI. "Tom Hardy and the rest of the cast are set to bring this original and spectacular story to life in a unique and epic way."

This is not the first TV show that Hardy has done though, as the actor was also in the cast of the award-winning 2001 HBO miniseries "Band of Brothers" when he was just starting out.
