The teenage brothers who allegedly went on a killing rampage in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, and stabbed to death their mom, dad, and three siblings last year did so for fame. Authorities claimed that they planned to kill more people after the attack on their own family.
Taking the example of Columbine killers Eric Harris and Dylan Klebold, brothers Michael, 17, and Robert, 19, murdered their parents, two brothers, and sister last July to start a series of mass murder killings, as per People. Broken Arrow police detective Rhianna Russel said they initially plotted to end the lives of more individuals.
"They wanted to kill at least 50 people. They wanted to be famous," Russel added in the same report. "They wanted a Wikipedia page. They wanted media coverage."
CBS News also mentioned that the Oklahoma massacre suspects wanted to be more famous that the perpetrators of the Columbine school killings based on Russel's testimony. The police official added one of them stored a "mass homicide" plan in his computer device.
During a recent hearing, Judge Martha Rupp Carter ordered the Bever brothers to stand trial for the first-degree murder case they are facing. The two previously entered a not guilty plea.
On the other hand, Detective Eric Bentz mentioned in his court testimony that Robert also had a notebook in their house that detailed how they would go about the killings. "The book was going to tell his story," the detective said.
On July 22 last year, the never brothers stabbed to death their parents and siblings inside their own home in Broken Arrow. The brothers' plan to carry out more attacks was halted when they were tracked in a wooded spot just behind their residence.
According to Daily Mail, Robert confessed to the authorities that he carried out the murders but showed no remorse for his act. They are scheduled to appear in court on Feb. 29 for their arraignment.
