For parents who make reading books as their bonding time with their kids, finding quality and interesting readings is very important. There is a wide selection of books out there but moms and dads want those which can teach vital learnings to their kids.

2. The Breadwinner - Deborah Ellis

This novel, as per Barnes and Noble, shows a community where women cannot leave their homes without a man accompanying them. Girls are also required to wear clothing that will cover their entire body, including their face. The main character in this book is 11-year-old Parvana who stays with her family inside a Kabul apartment building which has already been destroyed by a bomb.

3. The Giver - Lois Lowry

According to Shmoop, Lowry's award-winning masterpiece is about an 11-year-old boy named Jonas. He exists in a community where there is no hunger, war and suffering, but there is also no love, music or color in his world.

4. Beauty Queens - Libba Bray

It was noted in the Huffington Post report that the books deal mainly with bullying and beauty ideals of people. It is a recommended reading for children 12 years and above.

5. A Northern Light - Jennifer Donnelly

Published in 2003, Donnelly's novel talks about 16-year-old Mattie Gowkey who is tasked with burning letters for a Glenmore hotel guest Grace Brown. The latter was found lifeless in a lake and Gowkey found out that the letters he had could reveal the story behind her death.
