A 41-year-old mom on Thursday received two sentences of life in prison. The sentences are related to the deaths of her two children who were found hanging in their home in Pennsylvania.
Lisa Snyder has received two life sentences without the possibility of parole. Police identified the victims as 4-year-old Brinley and 8-year-old Connor, both of whom died in September 2019.
Additionally, the 41-year-old mom received a sentence of up to 17 years on child endangerment and evidence-tampering convictions.
Snyder's sentence comes after she was convicted last month of two counts of first-degree murder. She did not show any reaction after receiving the sentence, as reported by the Reading Eagle.
Mother Charged for Death of Her 2 Children
In Sept. 2019, investigators received reports of unresponsive children in the basement of Snyder's home. It was noted that the 41-year-old made the 911 call. Investigators said she claimed her son had committed suicide.
Upon arrival, police found the children hanging from a support beam. The same dog leash was used in the crime. The children were rushed to the Lehigh Valley Hospital-Cedar Crest where they were pronounced dead three days later.
Police launched an investigation, seizing numerous devices from the family's home, including the kids' Xbox console and the family's mobile phones. Investigators later discovered that Snyder's search history included "how to hang yourself."
In addition, her watch history also included "Almost Got Away With It," a TV series that profiles true stories of people who have committed crimes and briefly avoided capture, in the days leading up to the murder of her children, according to the New York Post.
Furthermore, authorities said she bought a dog leash hours prior to the discovery of the children's deaths.
Surviving Son Blames Mother For Siblings Death
In interviews with authorities, Snyder claimed her 8-year-old son had threatened to take his life after being a bullying victim.
Authorities said they did not find any evidence to back Snyder's claims. An expert also said Connor would not have been physically capable of hanging his sister and himself, per AP News.
Snyder still has a surviving son, 22-year-old Owen. Her son previously testified against his mother in court.
Owen noted that he had disowned his mother following the gruesome murders of his siblings.
