2-Year-Old Kentucky Boy Found Naked, Locked in Cage: Police

Police officers found a two-year-old boy naked and locked in a "caged area" in Carrollton, Kentucky. Five people have been arrested in connection to the case.

On Monday, officers at the Carrollton Police Department responded to a "prior tip from the community" about a child possibly being held in a confined area at a property on 7th Street.

When police arrived at the scene, Detective Dave Roberts found the "unclothed" boy locked behind a caged area that was secured with a padlock.

"Upon arrival, Detective Roberts and Sgt. Taylor located a male child, unclothed and under the age of 3 that was locked behind a wooden and metal enclosure that was secured with a padlock," the Carrollton Police Department wrote in a post on Facebook.

In addition to being kept in the cage, the boy's room was reportedly covered in urine and feces, according to The Sacramento Bee, citing a criminal complaint.

A subsequent investigation led to the removal of two children from the home. No other details were given about the condition or the identity of the children. The police also did not provide details about the two-year-old's health condition.

Who Made the Tip?

Per PEOPLE, publishing company McClatchy News claimed the tip came from a delivery driver who saw "a young child locked in what appeared to be a cage." The publication noted that the driver had also seen between eight to 10 dogs on the property that were "in poor health."

Five people have since been arrested, including 71-year-old Brenda Chilton, 72-year-old William Mahoney, 52-year-old Tammy Simmons, 29-year-old Codey Johnson, and 28-year-old Shelby Turocy.

All five were charged with criminal abuse and wanton endangerment. Additionally, police charged Turocy with possession of methamphetamine, possession of drug paraphernalia, and possession of marijuana, the Facebook post stated.
