Wisconsin Man Throws Baby Against Wall After Losing in NBA 2K Video Game; Child Not Expected To Survive

A man in Wisconsin has been arrested after he allegedly threw an 8-month-old baby boy at a wall because he was upset over losing in a video game.

Local police said they became involved in the case after Children's Wisconsin, a local pediatric hospital, filed a report of a possible child abuse incident against Jalin White, 20.

White had reportedly been in charge of taking care of the baby while the boy's mother had gone out to go shopping. When the mother came back, she found the baby barely breathing, and his right arm was "twitching," according to Law & Crime, citing legal documents.

What Injuries Did the Baby Sustain?

The boy's mother immediately picked up the baby and rushed to the hospital. It was noted in the documents that White was "angrily" asking where she was going and to give him the baby.

Doctors at Children's Wisconsin said the baby had suffered skull fractures, six broken ribs, and a broken collar bone. There were also injuries that were in different stages of healing, including a swollen eye and other injuries on his hands and legs. This indicates that he could have been abused at different periods, per WISN.

During the subsequent investigation, White gave varying accounts for the child's extensive injuries. One account claimed the boy's mother bumped his head on a door frame. Another account claimed the baby fell during a diaper change. Later, White claimed he accidentally dropped the baby while he was playing his video game.

White eventually admitted to throwing the baby against a wall because he was upset with his poor performance in a competitive NBA 2K game. Specifically, he was losing by two points in the game when he became frustrated.

"I heard the wall, it was hard on his head," he told police. "I heard the impact of the wall after I tossed him."

What Are the Charges Against Jalin White?

White is facing charges of child abuse with great bodily harm and child neglect. He is currently being held at the Milwaukee County Jail on a bond of $100,000, per jail records.

The child is not expected to survive the injuries.
