A woman recently alleged that she was sexually assaulted by Jay-Z and Sean "Diddy" Combs when she was 13 years old. Jay-Z, however, has denied the claims.
The woman, identified only as Jane Doe, initially filed the lawsuit in October, where she accused only Combs of sexually assaulting her in the year 2000. However, she amended her civil lawsuit on Sunday and added Shawn Carter, known in the entertainment industry as Jay-Z.
In a statement posted on X (formerly Twitter), the 55-year-old rapper called the allegations "heinous in nature" and said he is imploring the lawyer of the victim to "file a criminal complaint" as they "deserve real justice."
He also said the false allegations would harm his family with Beyonce and require them to "have to sit our children down." Jay-Z shares three children with Beyonce, including 12-year-old daughter Blue Ivy and 7-year-old twins Rumi and Sir.
"My only heartbreak is for my family. My wife and I will have to sit our children down, one of whom is at the age where her friends will surely see the press and ask questions about the nature of these claims and explain the cruelty and greed of people," he wrote.
Beyonce has yet to make a statement regarding the allegations against her husband publicly.
What Are the Allegations?
In the lawsuit, Jane Doe---who had only been 13 at the time---claimed she attended an after-party following the Video Music Awards in 2000. However, she began feeling woozy after having a drink at the party. She then wandered to a nearby bedroom where she claimed Jay-Z raped her first, and Combs followed after. The victim claimed she was able to escape after hitting Combs, according to CNN.
Jane Doe is being represented by attorney Tony Buzbee, who claimed he was representing over 100 people who were accusing Combs of misconduct. They are seeking an unspecified amount in damages.
Jay-Z Claims the Lawsuit Is a Blackmail Attempt
Elsewhere in his statement, the rapper claimed the lawsuit was Buzbee's attempt at blackmailing him and said the attorney was attempting to "extort exorbitant sums" from him through the false assault claims.
Lawyers for the rapper have since sued Buzbee, per The New York Times.
