A Florida teacher was shocked to discover the state's Education Practices Commission issued a massive fine against her for criticizing active shooter protocols in a TikTok video.
In a since-deleted video, TikTok user @galacticbeez shared that she was concerned for her, her students' and her colleagues safety following another school shooting, though it is unclear which one.
The video led to her firing, which the school defended because the teacher allegedly revealed confidential information about active shooter protocols, and a to-be-determined punishment from the Education Practices Commission, a state agency that disciplines teachers.
The TikTok user revealed her punishment in a now-viral video.
"This is crazy," TikTok user @galacticbeez said, while reading her punishment. "There are literal educators who have put their hands on students and received the exact same punishment that I'm receiving."
She added that all of the information she divulged in her original video could be found on the school district's website.
The EPC slapped her with a $750 fine, which she stated is more than half her paycheck, and a 1-year probation.
"None of this matters because I'm not interested in teaching. You could pay me a billion dollars and I would say no. I will not go back to the education system," @galacticbeez added.
She concluded the video by saying she is not sure how she will proceed, but she will most likely pay the fine to be done with the drawn-out fiasco.
