A 10-year-old Colorado boy suffers from a rare condition that is turning him to stone. His condition was so strange that only 40 other cases have been reported about it. Now, his parents are so desperate to find a cure that could possibly improve their son's condition.
At the age of 7, Jaiden Rogers was diagnosed with a stiff-skin syndrome. Three years later, the disease spread to his body that it even made it difficult for him to move and to walk. Now, he is on oxygen while his family search for an answer.
Tim Rogers, Jaiden's father, said they noticed some spots on his son's skin and it were hardening. "It's almost like if you took your finger and tapped on his arm, it's almost like tapping on a counter top, on a hard surface," he said to Fox6. "That's what it feels like."
For the past years, Jaiden has already seen numerous doctors. But until now, no one can give the family the answers they need nor the right treatment. Hence, the Rogers are getting worried and extremely anxious -- seeing Jaiden slowly turning into stone.
Nevertheless, Jaiden's mother, Natalie Rogers, said they are still searching for answers and seeking medical help that can possibly help in improving their son's condition. She said they tried everything, including chemotherapy medications, the treatment that is usually used for cancer patients.
"It started as small little patch and it spread all over," she said to ABC News. "They're trying to slow it down as much as it can, until we can find something."
The Rogers are still considering every possible option to save Jaiden. They are even planning to go to Europe -- hoping that they can find a solution for their son. "You try to fight for everything you can," Mrs. Rogers said. "But you don't know how to fight in this case."
