A former Colorado teacher admitted to sexually assaulting a 16-year-old student who had special needs and asked the teenager to bring a gun to school to shoot a colleague.

The suspect was identified as 28-year-old Imagine Kay Ewer, who pleaded guilty to the crime of sexually assaulting a special education student assigned to her care at Brady Exploration School in Lakewood. Ewer pleaded guilty to sexual assault on a child by one in a position of trust and contributing to the delinquency of a minor in the first degree.

Taking Advantage of a Special Needs Teenager

The First Judicial District Attorney also said that three other felony counts and one misdemeanor against Ewer were dismissed in exchange for her guilty plea. On Jan. 31, 2025, the former teacher was sentenced to four years in prison. This will be followed by probation for ten years to life in the Sex Offender Intensive Supervision program.

The mother of the victim addressed the court, noting that the defendant preyed on her son as she led him to believe that she genuinely cared about him. The mother argued that the suspect exploited her son for money and manipulated him into thinking that he was "the one," according to People.

She noted that what made the situation worse was that she trusted the teacher and would never have let her son be close to her if she had known what was happening. Special Victims Prosecutor Brynn Chase said that Ewer was the one who introduced the teenager to fentanyl.

Manipulating the Young Boy

The former Colorado teacher also sent the victim "thousands upon thousands" of text messages that said she wanted him to bring a gun to their sexual encounters. Ewer told the teenager to bring a firearm to school so they could shoot another faculty member in the leg.

The first sign of the relationship between the suspect and the victim was noticed in November 2023, when the teenager hinted at it in a classroom assignment that another teacher saw. After this, authorities at the school immediately contacted the Lakewood Police Department to investigate the matter, the New York Post reported.

During the investigation, authorities uncovered several pieces of evidence of the disturbing relationship between the suspect and the victim. Prosecutors added that the suspect sent messages to the teenager where she referenced multiple sexual encounters.

On top of the thousands of messages that the suspect sent to the young boy, she also introduced him to alcohol, drugs, and firearms, as pernNDTV.
