A 15-year-old boy died after being stabbed in the heart by a group of teenagers while he was on a Valentine's date with his girlfriend at a mall in California.
The suspect was identified as David Gutierrez, who was spending time with his girlfriend in Santa Clara when a group of teenagers suddenly approached them. The attackers then started beating the boy and stabbed him in the heart.

In a GoFundMe page that the victim's family set up, they said that the teenage boy fought for his life but was not able to make it to surgery. The fundraiser was set up to help them cover the costs of David's funeral expenses.
On Feb. 14, 2025, San Jose police responded to reports of a fight shortly after 7:00 p.m. and found the teenage boy "suffering from at least one stab wound." First responders who arrived at the scene attempted life-saving measures. However, when David was brought to a nearby hospital, he succumbed to his injuries and passed away, according to the New York Post.

The group of attackers have not yet been identified and were said to have quickly fled the scene of the crime after the brutal attack. Police said that they have not yet made any arrests in relation to the fatal stabbing.
Friends and family remembered the teenage boy as an "amazing" young man involved in his church and enjoyed going to a local boxing gym to work out. They said that David's life was taken too soon. He was said to have been enrolled in college-bound classes to help him prepare for college.
Unknown Reason for the Horrific Attack
The victim's family said that they were left heartbroken by the fatal attack and wondered why anyone would want to hurt the teenage boy. They said that they were "at a complete loss and trying to process this incomprehensible act of violence," People reported.

The GoFundMe page that the teenage boy's family set up for his funeral expenses has already received more than its original $20,000 goal. As of Tuesday morning, the fundraiser has received $23,000 in total contributions, and all of the money will go toward paying for the victim's funeral, as per the Independent.
