Many parents are wondering if Disney's live-action "Snow White" movie will resonate well with their children and if it is a suitable film for kids.

The latest live-action movie from Disney takes a different approach to the original 1937 animated film "Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs." On top of adding new songs, it features a cast that pits Rachel Zegler as Snow White and Gal Gadot as the Evil Queen.

Disney's Live-Action Snow White

One question that parents who watched the original musical movie have is if Disney's reimagining of the story is still fine to watch for the younger generation of today. Here are some things that they should keep in mind about the new "Snow White" movie.

The live-action movie takes the same backstory for the majority of the story, where Snow White is an orphaned princess and draws the Evil Queen's ire after she is named as the "fairest of them all."

It also maintains the part where the Evil Queen orders her huntsman to kill Snow White and bring back her heart. The dwarves also make a return, namely; Sneezy, Sleepy, Bashful, Grumpy, Happy, Dopey, and Doc, according to USA Today.

The most important thing that parents should know about the "Snow White" movie is that it is rated PG, for "violence, some peril, thematic elements, and brief rude humor." Despite this, the live-action film still focuses on showing kindness and empathy instead of cruelty and tyranny.

The main controversy surrounding the new movie is that Zegler's casting is not appropriate as the character has been described as being "white as snow." Another thing that parents should watch out for is that some moments could scare little ones if they are not prepared.

Despite this, the movie still focuses on a colorful and sweet-natured romance and shows humorous exchanges. In particular, the scenes with the dwarves, especially Dopey, show the innocence of the characters and a fun delight for younger viewers, Screen Rant reported.

Is the Movie Appropriate for Kids?

Some children who were brought in to watch special preview of the film had generally positive comments about "Snow White." However, there were some instances where they complained about things that most parents expect their kids to talk about.

One example is Snow White breaking and entering the dwarves' home without permission. The child said that a person should not go inside a random stranger's house uninvited. The child also found Gadot's Evil Queen to be "pretty mean."

Parents who are concerned about whether or not their own children would like the movie can take special care to notice what kind of movies or shows their kids like. A lightly fun and adventurous movie such as "Snow White" would still resonate with a lot of children, as per The Sydney Morning Herald.
