WebMD states that heartburn is triggered when stomach acid backs up into the esophagus. Most experts say that baking soda can beat heartburn. Add about ½ or 1 teaspoon of baking soda in a glass of water and drink it. On the other hand, do not make it as a remedy regularly because baking soda is high in salt.
3. Aloe
Dr. Victor Sierpina MD, a professor of integrative and family medicine at the University of Texas Medical Branch, said that aloe vera juice lessens the inflammation in the esophagus and the stomach. It is recommendable to drink ½ cup of it before meals. Choose a brand of aloe Vera that has no laxative.
4. Slippery elm
Slippery elm is used to treat diseases including GERD. This creates strong barriers against acid.
5. Licorice
Dr. Susan Blum, the founder, and director of the Blum Center for Health in Rye Brook, N.Y. said that licorice has a natural stomach healing properties. She suggests chewing a DGL licorice tablets before meals.
6. Ginger
Ginger is effective for acid reflux. You may consume a ginger during a meal or drink a ginger tea. This can relieve your heartburn.
