Lady Gaga is back on the headlines, and this time it's not for her superb performance. The "Poker Face" singer was slammed by critics for her "Free Kesha" campaign. Though Lady Gaga might have genuinely defended Kesha from Sony, some fans and critics stated that what she's doing is pure hypocrisy.
Lady Gaga was called out on her campaign as it is contradicting to what she's showing, according to Inquisitr. The website cited that Lady Gaga once worked with accused sexual predators.
In addition to working with R. Kelly and Terry Richardson (who have been accused of sexual abuse) their music video from "Do What You Want With My Body" does not seem appropriate for her advocacy.
The video features R. Kelly, who's taking on the role of a doctor touched Lady Gaga's female parts before putting her to sleep. He then tells her I'm putting you under, and when you wake up, you're going to be pregnant."
In addition to R. Kelly's part, it was also revealed that Lady Gaga is going around stepped naked as Terry Richardson documents her. Due to the video that was released, fans and critics suggest that she should not talk about sexual abuse just yet as she was not able to discuss the uncanny video's content, which is contradicting on her stand on sexual abuse.
Aside from slamming her for the "Free Kesha" campaign, there were those who called out her claims that she was sexually abused. Some mentioned that she played victim to give her career an instant boost. These claims, however, are being linked to victim shaming.
During one of her post, which was published in Daily Times, Lady Gaga called out the public and urged them to #StopVictimshaming. "What happened to Kesha has happened to many female artists, including myself and it will affect her for the rest of her life. No one needs to validate Kesha," Lady Gaga wrote.
She then added that victim shaming should be stopped. She also mentioned that justice should be served, not to favor those who are in power but those who were oppressed.
