Samsung Galaxy S7 Release Date, News & Updates: How Galaxy S7 Compares With LG G5

At this year's Mobile World Congress in Barcelona were launched head-to-head two of the best mobile phones of the year. Experts compared how the LG's innovative modular handset compares with Samsung's flagship 2016 phone.

With the launch of their next-gen mobile devices, the two Korean high-tech giants have made this year event a memorable one. To date, Galaxy S7 is the latest iteration of the most successful line of Android smartphones while LG G5 is an attempt at dethroning Samsung supremacy, according to The Verge.

In terms of design, the LG G5 doesn't beat the S7 by much in the thinness department, according to Gizmag. However, LG's phone is also 5 percent taller and 6 percent wider.

LG skips the plastic and leather of the previous model G4 in favor of an innovative all-metal unibody modular design, while the Galaxy S7 follows the design template of the S6 but adds a curved back.

The G5 has a slightly better size-to-weight ratio, but the Galaxy S7 is 4 percent lighter. Galaxy S7 comes in three color options while LG G5 will come in four colors.

In terms of display size, G5 has an 8 percent bigger display but those customers who need a bigger Samsung smartphone can choose the 5.5-inch Galaxy S7 Edge. Galaxy S7 features the same display specs as the S6, while the G5 features a Quad HD resolution.

The display type for Samsung's S7 is Super AMOLED, while LG's G5 features an IPS display. Both manufacturers offer always-on display technology showing various notifications including the time and date while your phone is sitting on a desk.

Both Galaxy S7 and G5 are coming with a finely tuned fingerprint sensor, with the G5's sensor sitting on its backside and the Galaxy's sensor inside its home button.

In terms of processing power, Samsung Galaxy S7 features a Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 processor on US, Japan and China versions and an octa core Samsung Exynos 8990 processor everywhere else. The LG G5 will feature the same Snapdragon processor in all markets.

Galaxy S7 comes with 32 GB, 64 GB and 128 GB storage options, while the G5 will offer only 32 GB internal storage. Both handsets feature 4 GB of RAM.

The Galaxy S7 comes with more battery power compared to its predecessor, while the LG G5's battery provides 2,800 mAh, coming in a bit behind S7. Both phones feature Qualcomm's Quick Charge tech for fast charging, but the Samsung's 2016 flagship line also supports wireless charging.

The Galaxy S7 comes protected against water and dust, while there's no such water and dust protection on the LG G5. You can expect to pay around $670 full retail price for a Samsung Galaxy S7, while LG did not announced yet the pricing of the G5.
