Mary Babers-Green, the outspoken mother of Golden State All-Star Draymond Green, has penned a lengthy but well-written letter to all Warriors critics. She lambasted former NBA players for "slinging mud" at the Golden State Warriors.
According to CBS Sports, Babers-Green sent a letter to the Bay Area News Group to voice out her concerns about the recent wave of retired players who have been criticizing the Golden State Warriors. In the letter, she told the critics to move on, stop spewing hate and respect the team.
"Even after such a great year, and the Warriors following that with sheer domination this season, the 'so-called experts' and former basketball players are slinging mud at Golden State," Babers-Green said in the letter. "All the talk is about what the Warriors can't do, what would have happened in another day, why what they are doing isn't so great after all."
"Move on! It happens with every generation," Babers-Green wrote. "Whatever happened to wanting the next generation to be better than the last?"
"Stop spewing envy," she added. "Last time I checked, records are made to be broken. Eras are going to change. Progress is supposed to be good."
Babers-Green continued that comparing eras is fine, however, there should respect. "They [Warriors] have earned it and are earning it."
Babers-Green's letter came after several retired players aired some unfavorable remarks about the Warriors. In an article of ESPN, retired NBA stars Stephen Jackson and Cedric Ceballos both commented that their former teams could have beaten the current Warriors team.
Moreover, Hall of Famers Oscar Robertson and Kareem Abdul-Jabbar underrated the team's present achievement. They said that the success of the team and its star player, Stephen Curry, is largely due to the present style of play, which is less physical compared to their days.
"They don't know anything about defenses," Robertson said. "They don't know what people are doing on the court. [Curry] has shot well because of what's going on in basketball today."
