Toddler Falls From Car Without Grandpa-Driver Noticing

A 2-year-old boy was captured on video falling from a car and rolling on a street in China. Despite the accident, his grandfather, who was driving the vehicle did not even notice that he already left his grandson behind.

In a dashcam video (see footage below) captured in Suzhou, the child was seen falling when the back of a van opened. He rolled on the road before he got up and run after his grandfather in the busy highway.

The occupants of the vehicle who captured the incident rescued the little boy and surrendered him to his grandfather minutes later. The grandfather, identified as Yang Defu, mentioned in a News.com.au report that the boy was at the backseat of the car but he climbed to the cargo compartment unnoticed.

Yang, according to CNN, admitted that he earlier figured in a collision which destroyed the lock at the back of his car making it easy for his grandson to open it. "I was waiting at the red light. After passing the intersection a car chased after me and kept sounding the horn," Yang said.

"The driver told me a kid fell out of my van. I looked back, parked my van aside, and went back to search for my grandson," he added noting that he immediately parked his car and went down to locate the boy. Though the kid was unharmed, CNN said netizens criticized Yang for not having a child-safety seat in his car.

Huffington Post noted that traffic authorities have already warned advised motorists to make sure that their kids are safe whenever traveling in a car. Citing a recommendation of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, it was highlighted that booster seats and seat belts for kids can be a big help to reduce fatal and serious injuries among young individuals.
