Marijuana Food Craze: Marijuana Infused Gelato

Italy is one of the most scenic places in the world. Aside from their ancient architecture and picturesque places, their pasta and gelatos kept tourists craving for more. Another culinary breakthrough was formulated by Italian chefs as the fight for marijuana legalization.

A pro-marijuana organization paved a way to introduce marijuana and its benefits to some of Italy's cuisine, according to the Munchies website. The latest culinary innovation is marijuana-infused gelato from a local gelato shop, Perleco. It is not quite appropriate to call the marijuana-infused delicacy "marijuana ice cream" as it should be referred to as a cannabis crème gelato.

Perlaco is located in the small village of Alassio, Liguria. The residents can get a taste of "Marley", the marijuana-infused gelato named after the reggae singer, Bob Marley. The gelato shop owner, Emanuela Baudana has been making a name when it comes to coming up with peculiar flavors. Baudana had launched two flavors that rocked the Italian palettes such as beer and lavender crème gelatos.

In order for her to get the best marijuana ingredients, Baudana tapped on some of her friends from Canapa Ligure, which is a marijuana legalization advocacy group. She got herself the finest marijuana ingredients from Alberto Barbieri.

Barbieri, the founder of the organization stated that the collaborated with Baudana in order for him to get the ingredients. Barbieri stated, "Our role in the production of the ice cream was simply connecting the shop with the seeds seller."

One of the biggest questions that were raised was the legalities of the marijuana infused desert. Italy is a bit lax when it comes to their marijuana laws, The Fix reported. Italians have been fighting in having pot decriminalized for years. Medical marijuana has been legalized in Italy back in 2013 wherein 250 law makers were in favor in having in legalized.
