Singer Madonna and former husband Guy Ritchie have again battled it out in a courtroom Wednesday for the custody of their teenage son, Rocco. The 15-year-old currently lives with his father in London but Madonna wants her son back.
Mirror said the "Rebel Heart" artist desperately wants to claim Rocco back from Ritchie, whom she divorced in 2008. "She always has to be right. It's her nature. She and Guy have disagreed on every [child rearing] decision they talk about, and it's made her feel like he's a bad parent," a Mirror source revealed.
It was also noted that Rocco expressed his desire to study in the United Kingdom, where he has been staying since December, instead of returning to New York. Mirror said this has prompted Madonna to share sweet messages to her son via Instagram. The singer expressed her concern that the parenting style of Ritchie is not fit for their son.
In an update, E! said that a New York judge has already encouraged both parents to settle their differences to avoid putting too much pressure on their son. Justice Deborah Kaplan said her order to make Rocco return to New York stays but noted that she will also not require Rocco to pull out from his school in London.
Madonna and Ritchie reportedly listened to the proceedings through a speakerphone while their legal counsels were present in the newsroom. "In the seven years since the family has been assigned to me, this is the first issue we've had with their children," the judge noted as she expressed hope that both will be able to finally agree on a custody agreement.
But lawyers claimed that there is still no clear deal between the two. Madonna's lawyer even mentioned Ritchie's effort to teach his son that court rulings are not important. "He taught his son court orders are not important," the lawyer noted. According to Daily Mail, the case is still open and will have its next hearing on June 1.
