Is midlife crisis real? Many people in their late 30s, 40s or 50s would say that they do experience an emotional crisis about their identity and self-confidence.
According to TODAY, the signs of midlife crisis include getting bored with life, thinking of having extramarital affairs, making impulsive decisions with money, sudden changes with career and physical appearance and style, alcoholism or drug addiction and becoming more nostalgic. The Guardian shared some tips to survive midlife crisis.
1. Be grateful for what you have.
Life might not be perfect for you right now but it never was and never will be. Being more appreciative and grateful for every single thing that you have is going to make a big difference in your outlook.
2. Be more loyal than ever.
Your spouse is not as pretty and gorgeous as she was before but neither are you. Appreciate and love each other. Be more loyal to her than ever because those younger women you are thinking about are only after your wallet.
3. Don't worry obsessively about work
"These days you can count yourself lucky to have any job," The Guardian shared. Instead of making unnecessary career changes, further develop your craft and use all of your acquired knowledge and skills to stand out.
4. Be careful with your money.
Men buy lots of new toys, gadgets and cars during midlife crisis because of their sudden desire to live their lives to the fullest. They think that buying expensive toys will help make up for their lost youth. Instead of thinking of what you have lost, think more of what you will lose if you continue to be unwise with your family's money.
