'Big Hero 6' TV Series Premiere: New Disney XD Show Arrives In 2017

"Big Hero 6" will be given a home on TV by Disney to continue the story of Hiro and Baymax. The "Big Hero 6" TV series will air on Disney XD cable networks.

According to Cartoon Brew, Disney's "Big Hero 6" TV series will expand the tale of the "Big Hero 6" film characters. Hiro and Baymax will join Go Go, Wasabi, Honey Lemon, and Fred. Continuing the story after Hiro and Baymax's success in the "Big Hero 6" film, the "Big Hero 6" TV series will mainly focus on Hiro as a student at the San Fransokyo Institute of Technology. The "Big Hero 6" TV series will also mix in the more social aspect in Hiro's life.

The "Big Hero 6" TV series will have Mark McCorkle and Bob Schooley onboard as executive producers.

Both Mark McCorkle and Bob Schooley were executive producers for "The Penguins of Madagascar" TV series, "Buzz Lightyear of Star Command" and "Kim Possible." Sharing executive producer tasks and taking on the challenge of being supervising director for "Big Hero 6" is "Wolverine and the X-Men" and " American Dragon: Jake Long" director Nick Filippi.

Variety reports that "Big Hero 6," which was created by Walt Disney Animation Studios, was actually inspired by a comic from Marvel. The battle that Hiro and Baymax took on to save San Fransokyo grossed $657 million in the global box office.

President and Chief Creative Officer for Disney Channels Worldwide, Gary Marsh, expressed the general excitement over bringing "Big Hero 6" on TV. "We are thrilled to have the opportunity to further develop these characters into a world class animated series - full of fun, action and the kind of endearing storytelling that only Mark, Bob - and Baymax - can deliver," Marsh said.

"Big Hero 6" fans will not have too long to wait. Disney XD cable networks will air the "Big Hero 6" TV series in 2017.
