If there is one thing that people will always get shocked at, it is something to do with one of their favorite characters in a TV show or a movie being gay and this has happened a lot, one of the good examples of this said shock is when during J.K. Rowling announced via her Twitter that the lovable and powerful headmaster, Albus Dumbledore of the Harry Potter movies and book series was gay. Despite this announcement there was no less love given to the character and now it seems like someone is gay in the "Star Wars" franchise.
In a report, Mark Hamill, the actor who plays Luke Skywalker has announced that he is open to the possibility that the famous Jedi knight might be gay; this comes after J.J. Abrams' announcement that some of the characters in the "Star Wars" universe is homosexual. Now, Mark Hamill has given his two cents about the issue saying that the sexuality of Luke Skywalker in the "Star Wars" films was never specified and that the only romantic interest he ever showed was towards his sister, Leia.
"Fans are writing and ask all these questions, 'I'm bullied in school ... I'm afraid to come out.' They say to me, 'Could Luke be gay?' I'd say it is meant to be interpreted by the viewer," Hamill said in an interview. "If you think Luke is gay, of course he is. You should not be ashamed of it. Judge Luke by his character, not by who he loves."
Although Mark Hamill is not confirming that Luke Skywalker is gay, he is totally supportive about the idea or the idea that a character or characters in the "Star Wars" film is gay. Though gay characters in films aren't necessarily something new, the "Star Wars" film franchise is one of the biggest and the most successful in the Hollywood history and it would greatly make an impact if this is true.
