"The Vampire Diaries" Season 7 is rumored to be the show's last, as ratings continue to drop for the CW series. Recent reports claim, however, that the show may be cancelled but its characters will be joining its spinoff series "The Originals."
"The Vampire Diaries" Season 7 recently aired Episode 15 entitled, "I Would For You" last Friday, Mar. 4 before it went on a short hiatus. During the said episode, fans and viewers were heartbroken when Damon (Ian Somerhalder) asked Bonnie (Kat Graham) to help him take the 60-year nap.
Stefan and Bonnie tried to talk him out of his decision, but Damon was sure of it. This fueled speculations even further that "TVD" Season 7 is the show's last on TV.
Rumors surrounding "The Vampire Diaries" cancellation began after the show was moved to a different timeslot and actress Nina Dobrev departed the series after Season 6. The change in the timeslot was said to be due to the drop in the ratings.
"The Vampire Diaries" was down a tenth from its ratings last week, TV Fanatic reported. According to the publication, the show only had 1.1 million viewers with a 0.1 rating during its recent episode.
This made fans even more worried about the show's future on TV. The cast and crew, however, remained optimistic that "TVD" will renewed for Season 8, Inquisitr reported.
"I know we have a very large crew and cast of people who really want to be doing what we love on this show next year, so keep your fingers crossed," said series creator Julie Plec.
Fans, however, noted on the possibility that "The Vampire Diaries" Season 7 may be cancelled and its characters, Paul Wesley, Ian Somerhalder, Nina Dobrev will be joining its spinoff series, "The Originals."
Many fans welcomed the idea, as this would also pave the way for another 'shipped couple in the series, "Klaroline."
What do you think? Will "The Vampire Diaries" be cancelled after Season 7 and should its characters crossover with "The Originals?"
