Putting an end to the suspense, Shakira has finally revealed the gender of her baby, it's a boy. The singing sensation confirmed the news in a video interview with Germany's RTL.
"It's gonna be a boy," E! News quoted the singer as telling to RTL. "This guy [Piqué] is the best thing that ever happened to me in my whole life. And now we're having a baby."
This will be the first child of Shakira with the Spanish soccer star Gerard Pique. During the interview, Shakira, also revealed her future plans for her son.
"When the baby is born, I'll take him with me on charity trips," E! News reported. "He shall learn that he is able to change the world."
Speculations about the pregnancy were spreading like wild fire for weeks. In August a Colombian magazine "Gente" confirmed the pregnancy news.
Apart from that, the magazine also revealed the baby's gender (boy), name (Ulicito) due date (January) and the singer's plans about birth (Caesarian section).
However, it was until recently that the 35-year-old singer confirmed the news on her website.
"As some of you may know, Gerard and I are very happy awaiting the arrival of our first baby!" she wrote. "At this time we have decided to give priority to this unique moment in our lives and postpone all the promotional activities planned over the next few days."
Shakira's relationship with Pique started during the shooting of her famous song "Waka Waka." It was only after splitting with her long-time boyfriend Antonio de la Rua, oldest son of former Argentinian President Fernando de la Rua in Jan. 2011, the singer confirmed her relationship with Pique.
