The third instalment of the "The Divergent Series" based on the novel by Veronica Roth is no different from the second instalment, "The Divergent Series: Insurgent." The plot of "The Divergent Series: Allegiant" offers nothing extraordinary according to movie critics.
Although the characters and the settings have changed, "The Divergent Series: Allegiant" have more or less the same effect on its viewers, notes The Hollywood Reporter. Just like "The Hunger Games," the final instalment of the trilogy series was divided into two parts of which "The Divergent Series: Allegiant" is the first part.
With the same set of characters, "The Divergent Series: Allegiant" leads you to familiar action-filled scenes with lavish special effects. The Wrap says that nothing has changed in terms of what the characters did in the previous instalments. The Hollywood Reporter, however, notes that this won't probably bother fans despite the obvious plot. There is still a large portion of the population who got hooked with the movie series.
Despite four acclaimed writers behind the movies, "The Divergent Series: Allegiant" seems to be created with minimum fashion to please a maximum amount of viewers. Even though the movie has obvious flaws, Hollywood Reporter admits that "The Divergent Series: Allegiant" has a certain appeal with all the Matrix-like effects and post-apocalyptic scenes.
The Wrap narrates that Shailene Woodley reprises her lead role in "The Divergent Series: Allegiant" as Tirs. She is known as the most unique among all of them and is dubbed as the "The One." A meek girl originally coming from Abnegation, she later turned into a guerrilla leader. In the last movie series, "The Divergent Series: Insurgent," Tris sets out to fight the government that has divided them into factions (Dauntless, Amity and Erudite) with her own set of legions.
So-called Divergents, Four (Theo James) and Tris do not fall into any of the factions. This is where they find out there's a possibility of life outside the walled-in Chicago. The movie opens with Tris and Four with their set of army traveling beyond the wall, where they learn that their city is just a giant laboratory experiment all this time.
Given the obvious events about to take place, The Hollywood Reporter applauds Woodley for the natural way she pulls off her character's transformation in "The Divergent Series." For those who haven't watched the "The Divergent Series: Allegiant," check out the trailer for the movie below:
