Fans of Marvel's "Agent Carter" will rejoice as the TV series is rumored to continue for its third season. Although the ratings were sagging in the last season, an insider from ABC revealed that "Agent Carter" will be renewed.
An exclusive report from Nerd Reactor revealed that ABC has decided to stick with "Agent Carter" and renew the show for a third season despite getting low ratings on its Season 2 finale last week. When episodes 8 and 9 aired back to back last week, the show reportedly received its lowest number of viewers of 2.5 million compared to last year's finale of 4.02 million viewers. More so, "Agent Carter" Season 2 finale received a low 0.07 rating for adults between 18 and 49 years old compared to last year's rating of 1.3, according to reports.
Comic Book adds that "Agent Carter" has had a steady decline since the show premiered in January 2015. However, the website notes that reviews for the "Agent Carter" Season 2 were strong. While the show started off with a good start, reaching an initial 6.9 million viewers, that the number of viewers significantly drops each week.
Despite this decline, an insider from the studio has confirmed that ABC will renew "Agent Carter" for another season, Nerd Reactor reports. However, Comic Book says that "Agent Carter" Season 3 is not yet finalized. Marvel has yet to make an official announcement.
"Agent Carter" follows the story of agent Peggy Carter (Hayley Atwell) as she continues on without Captain America in New York, per Nerd Reactor. Carter then tries to prove that she's a valued asset for the Strategic Scientific Reserve (SSR), which is dedicated to fighting against the new Atomic Age after the World War II. "Agent Carter" Season 2 follows Carter to Los Angeles on a mission to stop an evil scientist from gaining power.
