A man spends his life adopting not cute young puppies but senior dogs and farm animals. Steve Greig, an accountant living in Denver, Colorado has this great love for pets from all walks of life and sees beyond the appearance of animals but looks through their needs before adopting them.
Steve presently lives with his ten dogs, two chickens, two ducks, two pigeons, two cats, a rabbit and a pig named Bikini who actually thinks that she is a dog. He also has a pond of koi.
"I grew up with a lot of pets," said Greig. "Both my parents were animal lovers and they pretty much always let me have whatever I wanted as long as I could take care of it," he added, according to The Dodo.
His passion for dogs began during his childhood days when he traumatically witnessed the death of his dog. He was so distressed about that incident that he made a promise to house as many animals as he can.
"I decided that the only way I would feel better was if something good happened that probably wouldn't have happened if he had not died," the animal lover said.
He would choose senior dogs over puppies because he sees their needs being the least adoptable ones. He also believes that senior dogs are easier to handle because they are wiser animals.
He said, "These dogs know who they are, and it's easy to develop a relationship with a person or pet who knows who they are".
Eeyore, a 12-year-old Chihuahua was his very first rescue dog.
He may be a busy man but he makes it a point to find time to provide for the needs of his pets. He sets regular schedules for their walks, mealtime and medicines. His pets even have a weekend grooming appointment with their vet.
"It's just fulfilling knowing that these guys are happy and loved and well taken care of. It makes my days worthwhile," Steve Greig concluded, according to Little Things.
