Neil Gaiman's "Sandman" was initially set out to become a TV series until its production was halted, reports Screen Rant. It was later on developed for the big screen with Joseph Gordon-Levitt taking the reins. He was also rumored to star in it as well. But it was reported last Saturday, Gordon-Levitt was not going to push through with the project.
Citing creative differences with New Line Studio, Gordon-Levitt posted a lengthy statement on his Facebook account by way of explaining his decision. He also praised his co-workers in his statement, especially Gaiman. Now, Gaiman has responded in kind and praised the young actor in return citing his work ethics, intellect, and attitude, reports DNA.
Gaiman looks forward to a possible project with Gordon-Levitt real soon. It's clear that the two have bonded on a deep level while working on the film adaptation of "Sandman".
The special bond between the two creative minds was one of the reasons fans are looking forward to the movie adaptation of "Sandman." They believe that with these two geniuses, they can pull off making a movie that will give justice to the comic book.
Gaiman also took to Twitter to further explain how the production of a movie operates. The studio ultimately has the final say on who the characters will be or what direction the film should follow.
Gaiman also added that he didn’t lose rights to “Sandman." As it turns out, he sold the rights when he was just 26 years old and never regretted his decision. To know more about the story of “Sandman,” check out the video below:
