The highly anticipated anime series "Tokyo Ghoul" is set out to be released this summer, according to rumors. A mobile game based on the popular anime series is also in the development.
As fans of "Tokyo Ghoul" wait for the premiere of Season 3, they can also anticipate a mobile game based on the popular anime series. According to MNR Daily, the mobile game was a result of insistent demand from anime fans.
"Ever since we began simulcasting the anime series last year, fans of 'Tokyo Ghoul' have been clamoring for a mobile game", Gen Fukunaga, president and CEO of FUNimation Entertainment, was quoted saying. "With season 2 now finished and season 3 set for 2016, the anticipation for the game has only grown higher."
The release date of "Tokyo Ghoul" season 3 has not been officially announced yet despite rumors of a summer release. This also goes true for the mobile game currently being developed. According to The Bit Bag, impatient fans may see a reboot of the anime series as the manga version where it is based is not complete.
At present, the manga series is still lacking several chapters with 43 chapters recorded as of October 2015. Reports state that only a few chapters have been added since. This means that the studio will need to create filler contents to start production of "Tokyo Ghoul", the anime series. This could create a diversion from the original source as what happened in Season 2.
The Bit Bag also reports that there's a high possibility that "Tokyo Ghoul" Season 3 may shift its focus to Touka Kirishima from Ken Kaneki. As a result, the plot of the anime series may be different from its manga version. Spoilers from MNR Daily reveal that Kirishima will become Kaneki's partner as the latter will suffer from amnesia that will change his intentions.
However, MNR Daily assures fans that the minor deviation will not totally change the two previous seasons. For now, check out a video clip from "Tokyo Ghoul":
