Bette Midler has responded to Kim Kardashian's accusations that she's a fake friend. The reality TV star alluded that the Divine Miss M gave her a gift to "befriend" her, and now the actress attacked her post on Twitter. But what was this gift and why are these celebrities feuding on social media?
It all started when Kim posted another nude photo of herself on Twitter last Monday, which had the Diva cracking a joke. "Kim Kardashian tweeted a nude selfie today," Bette wrote. "If Kim wants us to see a part of her we've never seen, she's gonna have to swallow the camera."
Bette was pertaining to the fact that Kim had done the same stunts before and that it was no longer shocking to see her naked body. The reality TV star, who also received snide comments from other Piers Morgan and Chloë Grace Moretz about her latest nude selfie, shot back at Bette for her remark. "I really didn't want to bring up how you sent me a gift awhile back trying to be a fake friend then come at me #dejavu," Kim wrote.
TMZ reports that the gift Kim referred to was a tree that Bette dedicated to her in 2007. It was for the New York Restoration Project for MillionTreesNYC. Bette supposedly sent Kim a handwritten note along with the dedication as well.
In response to Kim's claims that Bette tried to "fake friend" her, the actress and comedienne said she never did such a thing. "Looks like anyone can take a selfie but not everyone can take a joke...," Bette wrote.
Kim has yet to reply to this Twitter war and followers on social media are waiting to see what the stars throw at each other next.
