Sony and Marvel Studios are already working to build the new cast of the upcoming "Spider-Man" reboot. As the two giant companies confirm Tom Holland, popularly known as Michael in "Billy Elliot the Musical," to play as the new Peter Parker, the latest addition to the remake is Disney star Zendaya.
The 19-year-old Zendaya will play a major role opposite Tom Holland. However, her exact character is not yet verified.
There are rumors that Zendaya will not be the love interest of Tom Holland in "Spider-Man" as she will play the role of Michelle, Deadline reports. However, some fans expect that she will be seen as either Mary Jane Watson or Gwen Stacy as the two characters were seen in the preceding movies.
Sony and Marvel are keeping things under wraps about the upcoming "Spider-Man" remake. The only detail that the companies issued is about Tom Holland's debut as Spider-Man in the upcoming film "Captain America: Civil War," according to Movie Pilot.
Also, aside from Tom Holland and Zendaya, Sony and Marvel revealed the addition of Marisa Tomei as Spider-Man's Aunt May. Since the two studios are setting the "Spider-Man" reboot, they are also eyeing to create a movie spin-off with "Venom." In fact, Sony is already in talks with Dante Harper to write the script for "Venom," which is separate from the upcoming "Spider-Man" film starring Tom Holland.
Additionally, Avi Arad and Matt Tolmach, who are known for being the stewards of "Spider-Man" films, are proposing the project and are set to produce it, per The Hollywood Reporter. To recall, Venom is one of Marvel's supervillains and Spider-Man's greatest enemy when he was presented in 1988.
Venom was created by the writer David Michelinie and artists Todd McFarlane and Mike Zeck. Venom is an alien symbiote that needs to have a human body host to live, giving its human host superpowers.
The untitled "Spider-Man" film about Venom is set to be released in 2017. Tom Holland will be first seen as Spider-Man in "Captain America: Civil War" on May 6.
