Your wedding day and honeymoon is typically the happiest and most romantic time of a couple's life together. Well it should be at least. A German couple's marriage got off to a bumpy start when the groom forgot his new bride at a gas station as the couple were returning home from their honeymoon.
If that isn't shocking enough, he only realized she was missing after driving for another two hours, according to the Associated Press.
The whole ordeal began when the couple were travelling home to Berlin after enjoying a romantic honeymoon together in Paris. He pulled over near the central town of Bad Hersfeld late Thursday to fill up their van, police officers said.
After he had a full tank in, he got back in the car and merrily drove along, ignorant of the fact his new wife was missing from the car. So how exactly did he go for two hours without realizing she wasn't there? She had initially been asleep in the backseat when he pulled up at the gas station. He was unaware that she had gotten out to go to the restroom, so when he returned back to the car, he didn't think to check the backseat to ensure she was still there.
After finally realizing she was missing, he panicked and called the police. Luckily, they had already been alerted by the wife so he was told she was "patiently waiting" for him back at the gas station, according to the report.
"My first reaction was 'is he daft'? I had no money or telephone with me," the bride later told a radio station.
The names of the groom and unfortunate bride were not released.
