'The Division' Release Date, News & Updates: On Launch Night The Game Has Troubles With Server Issues

The game "Tom Clancy's The Division" is on sale now, but due to server issues, those who have bought the game at midnight have difficulties playing it.

"The Division" is a much anticipated online shooter developed by Ubisoft. The game launched on Tuesday night in the U.K. market, but the frustrated gamers received endless error messages from the game servers. According to Kotaku, "Tom Clancy's The Division" requires a permanent internet connection. Gamers are not able to play the game if the servers go down or if the link to the servers goes down.

At midnight Eastern time, the servers went down and gamers could not connect to the game anymore. The issue might be caused by an outage of North American players trying to connect. Users on NeoGAF, Reddit and Twitter have reported a widespread inability to connect and play "The Division as well as server outages.

According to PC Advisor, "Tom Clancy's The Division" was initially announced by the game developer Ubisoft at 2013's Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3). At the time, the game developer studio declared that they will launch the game in 2014. However, "The Division" did not come on the market as soon as expected. During E3 2015, Ubisoft gave the game another official release date for March 8, 2016.

There were several ways gamers could buy the game in advance of the Tuesday's midnight sale in the U.K. Pre-orders of "The Division" from GAME were available on Xbox One and PS4 game platforms for a price starting from £42.99. On Amazon pre-orders for the game were available priced at £44 for PS4 and Xbox One and at £39.99 for PC.

Several midnight launches were organized by participating GAME stores across the country. Players were supposed to be able to get their game copy the moment "The Division" went on sale. Unfortunately, those trying to get a first look and hoping to play "The Division" at midnight have struggled with server issues.
