After Charlie Hunnam pulled out of the movie adaptation of blockbuster erotic novel 'Fifty Shades of Grey,' a new race has begun for the role of Christian Grey.
Bookies have zeroed in on Ryan Gosling as the next Christian Grey.
"Before Charlie Hunnam landed the lead role in the E.L. James creation, Ryan Gosling was the front-runner to land the part," Coral's Nicola McGeady told the Express UK. "And now that Hunnam's pulled out, fans of the Canadian actor have been racing to place bets on him taking over as Christian Grey."
Following Gosling, other hotties like Matt Bomer and Ian Somerhalder are also being suggested for the role.
Earlier, author EL James revealed that Charlie Hunnam and Dakota Johnson would be Christian Grey and Anastasia Steele. This created furore among the readers and fans of the erotic novel. They demanded a recast of the lead roles.
However, Charlie decided to step back from playing the role.
"The filmmakers of Fifty Shades of Grey and Charlie Hunnam have agreed to find another male lead given Hunnam's immersive TV schedule which is not allowing him time to adequately prepare for the role of Christian Grey," a joint statement issued by Universal Pictures and Focus features read.
But according to E! Online, Charlie's decision not to play the role was not a "surprise."
"What he was taking on with this role was not what Charlie wants in his future career. The attention and the pressure was intense. More than anything he hates attention and being in Fifty Shades of Grey would force him to do lots of media. That's really not his thing. Charlie doesn't want to be massively famous. Plus, he hates conforming and being told what to do. This role would force him to have to be something he is not," a source told E! Online.
