Kim Kardashian reportedly lost all her baby weight after giving birth to baby North West by using the Atkins Diet, a low-carbohydrate and high-protein diet.
The reality star of "Keeping Up With the Kardashians" fame made the revelation after one of her 18 million followers asked her what her secret was behind her weight loss.
"I've actually been doing the Atkins diet & luv it," tweeted Kanye West's girlfriend. Kardashian lost the baby weight in just four months after giving birth.
The Atkins diet was created by Dr Robert Atkins which endorsed a low-carbohydrate diet, by cutting out breads, rice and pasta. As the weeks into the diet progress, Atkins dieters can slowly increase their carbohydrate intake by introducing whole grains such as brown rice and whole wheat pasta.
A rep for Atkins told the Daily News that Kardashian started the diet in Phase 2 - instead of the more restrictive Phase 1 - because she was nursing.
"After she delivered her baby on June 15, she wanted an effective and balance way to lose the baby weight. She'd done Atkins before and knew it worked, so once she got the approval of her doctor, we connected her with our Vice President of Nutrition Colette Heimowitz, who counseled her directly," Jennifer Livingston, a spokeswoman with Atkins Nutritionals.
"Being a new nursing mother, she needed adequate calories to be healthy for her child and keep up her milk production. What's great about Atkins is that it's not about counting calories or depriving yourself," she added.
Kim Kardashian gave birth in June to baby girl North West. This is Kim's and boyfriend Kanye Wests first child together. They have been dating since last year and rumors have spread they are engaged although neither side has confirmed anything.
